Pattinson looks glum next to Reese Witherspoon at Barcelona premiere

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Smile R-Patz! Water For Elephants co-stars pose on the red carpet in Barcelona for the Spanish premiere but Robert Pattinson has trouble cracking a smile next to Reese Witherspoon

They've been jet-setting around the world promoting their new film over recent weeks, but Robert Pattinson looked like he'd rather be somewhere else last night as he posed with Reese Witherspoon in Barcelona.

The on-screen lovers were celebrating the Spanish premiere of Water For Elephants but as they stood arm in arm together on the red carpet, R-Patz couldn't crack a smile.

Pattinson held Reese around the small of her back but their affection looked more awkward than anything else.

Show of affection: Pattinson held Reese around the small of her back as they both posed on the red carpet in Barcelona

After having promoted the film in Paris the day before in a little red dress, Reese slipped on a knee-length black strapless LBD and matching heels for last night’s viewing.

While the Twilight saga star looked smart in a grey suit and unbuttoned blue shirt alongside his trademark dishevelled hair.

Both stars then took a break from posing, before entering the cinema, to sign autographs for fans.

Earlier in the day Reese had still been in France and was taking advantage of the Parisian shopping district by perusing the stores with her bodyguard.

The 35-year-old tried to dress incognito in skin-tight jeans and a denim shirt but was still recognised by onlookers.

By EMILY SHERIDAN

Kiss me quick: Russell Brand and Katy Perry kiss for the cameras at the UK premiere of his film Arthur at Cineworld at the O2 Arena in London

They've spent a large amount of their six month marriage apart due to their busy work schedules.

So perhaps Katy Perry and Russell Brand were catching up on lost time as they put on a passionate show for photographers at the London premiere of his film Arthur.

Currently enjoying a break in her California Dream World Tour, Perry played best supporting wife to Brand as he walked up the red carpet at the O2 Arena in Greenwich.

Bare essentials: Perry wore a floor-length mermaid asymmetrical gown by Philip Armstrong with diamanté embellishments and matching nude platform heels

Brand, 35, who takes on Dudley Moore's role in the remake of the Eighties classic comedy, looked unusually dapper in a blue suit and grey tie.

Keep your eye on the ball! Jack Black distracted by a shapely cheerleader

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Eyes front: Jack Black checks out the cheerleader at yesterday's Los Angeles Lakers game at the Staples centre

He may have been there to watch the basketball, but Jack Black looked like he was finding it difficult to keep his eye on the game last night.

The 41-year-old actor was clearly enjoying himself as he checked out the cheerleading talent at the Lakers game in Los Angeles.

Wearing a bright yellow Lakers T-shirt, jeans and a pair of sunglasses, Jack looked more than happy at the view from his court-side seat next to film producer Jeffrey Katzenberg,.

Legs eleven: The actor shares a laugh with a friend as he watches the cheerleader struck her stuff

The star, who recently starred in Gulliver's Travels, enjoyed a joke with friends as he watched the action.

However, the cheerleader's efforts seemed to be in vain as The Lakers sunk to a 109-100 defeat to the New Orleans Hornets in the first game of the NBA playoffs at the Staples Centre.

It appeared to be very much a boys night out for the star, who had left his wife Tanya and children Samuel, four, and two-year-old Thomas at home.

Taking a break: Jack enjoyed a courtside snack as he watch the Lakers lose to The New Orleans Hornets

The actor last appeared in a film version of Gulliver's Travels, and will soon again be providing the voice of Po in animated sequel Kung Fu Panda 2.

'This movie kicks so much butt that's there's going to be a national butt shortage when this movie is unleashed on theatres,' Jack has said about the film.

Kung Fu Panda 2, which also features the voice talent of Angelina Jolie, Dustin Hoffman and Seth Rogen, will be released in the U.S. in May.

Enjoying the action: The actor chatted to friends during a break in the match

Kiss me, quick! Twilight's Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Romantic moment: Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson share a kiss after a party to celebrate the premiere of Water For Elephants in New York last night

Reese Witherspoon might not have enjoyed getting close to Robert Pattinson, but his girlfriend Kristen Stewart apparently has no complaints.

The actress, 21, was spotted kissing her Twilight co-star, 24, in the back seat of a car as they left an after party following the New York premiere of his new movie, Water For Elephants, last night.

Stewart was carrying her high heels in her hands and looked giddy as she leaned in for the affectionate moment.

Home time: The pair shared a back-seat smooch as the called it a night

The brunette, who is always eager to keep her relationship out of the spotlight, had skipped the red carpet but turned out to support her boyfriend at the private bash.

Pattinson instead attended the screening with his co-star Reese Witherspoon, who had just days earlier described the pair's love scenes as 'unpleasant'.

'He had a very runny nose,' the 35-year-old told MTV, adding: 'It wasn’t appealing. It wasn’t pleasant.'

Happy couple: Despite having sore feet, Kristen couldn't wipe the smile off her face

Reese, who married talent agent Jim Toth last month, offered her co-star some advice for his future kissing scenes too.

'Bring a Sudafed,' she joked.

Pattinson has been dating Stewart since 2009 and the pair have recently been filming The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, both parts 1 and 2, which is expected to finish later this month.

The upcoming installments will see their characters Bella Swan and Edward Cullen get married and have a child.

Awkward: Robert walked the red carpet with his co-star Reese Witherspoon, who had earlier described love scenes with the actor as 'unpleasant'

Meanwhile, Reese has been hot on the promotional trail for the movie, which is released on April 22.

Today, she sported three different outfits as she did a tour of talk shows in New York.

She wore a clingy blue dress, long black coat and cream coloured heels for an appearance in Good Morning America, before changing into a coral mini dress and black tights for The View.

Lastly, she went for a more summery look in a floral pink and white number for a radio appearance.

Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson share uncomfortable cuddle

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Awkward? Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon posed for pictures on the red-carpet for the premiere of their new film, Water For Elephants, at the Ziegfeld Theatre in New York City

After already complaining about getting intimate with Twilight star Robert Pattinson this week, Reese Witherspoon was once again forced to cozy up close to her younger co-star tonight.

The pair shared an uncomfortable cuddle as they posed for pictures on the red-carpet for the premiere of their new film, Water For Elephants, at the Ziegfeld Theatre in New York City.

The awkward embrace comes after the 35-year-old actress revealed that her steamy sex scenes with the 24-year-old were anything but enjoyable.

Pretty in puffball: Reese was radiant in a cream Jason Wu puffball mini dress which had a stunning fine black floral embroidery scattered around the skirt and bodice

Reese described her kissing scenes with the Twilight hunk as 'unpleasant'.

'He had a very runny nose,' she told MTV, adding: 'It wasn’t appealing. It wasn’t pleasant.'

Reese, who married talent agent Jim Toth last month, offered her co-star some advice for his future kissing scenes too.

'Bring a Sudafed,' she joked.

Reese could barely force a smile on the arm of Robert, who had his arm wrapped around her waist.

The duo appeared more comfortable when they posed with their co-star Hal Holbrook, who plays the older version of Pattinison's character.

Regardless of their lacklustre chemistry, the two co-stars looked equally elegant for tonight's occasion.

Three's a crowd? Reese and Robert also posed with their 86-year-old co-star Hal Holbrook, who plays the older version of Pattinison's character

The recently married actress also showed off her wedding band set, which she received from Toth when the pair exchanged vows only weeks before.

Robert, who is rumoured to be in a relationship with his 21-year-old Twilight co-star Kristen Stewart, looked dashing in a checked charcoal suit with a white shirt and burgundy tie.

While Kristen wasn't on hand to escort him down the red-carpet, the handsome British actor did have his two older sisters, Victoria and Lizzy Pattinson for moral support.

William & Kate - The Movie is slated by critics

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

One likes a laugh: Camilla Luddington as Kate Middleton and Nico Evers-Swindell as Prince William

There are already hundreds of tacky Royal wedding memorabilia on sale - but a made-for-TV film telling the story of William and Kate's romance could trump the lot in the bad-taste stakes.

The critics say it's so bad, it's good - and it could even have the royal couple themselves reaching for the popcorn for a viewing.

However, they might be watching some scenes through their fingers, because director Mark Rosman didn't exactly make accuracy his number one priority.

Lip service: Prince William and Kate share a passionate kiss

The famous Dragon Boat rowing race is re-created, for instance, with Kate at the helm. But in the film she jumps into the river and swims ashore to meet William.

Meanwhile London buses are seen driving, incorrectly, on the right side of the street. That may be because the film was shot entirely on location, not in the Highlands or London, but in Los Angeles, California. Think Buckingham Palace 90210.

Water joke: We all remember Kate training for the Dragon Boat race - but script-writers have made this bit up

It even stars an actor who had never heard of Prince Phillip, did not know what a corgi was and had never heard of Eton - the school his character Prince Harry went to. Twenty-four-year-old Justin Hanlon was also unable to name any other monarch in British history other than the Queen and had never heard of David Cameron.

The two lead actors, meanwhile, haven't exactly clocked up much screen time. New Zealander Nico Evers-Swindell, who plays Prince William, has popped up in NCIS: Los Angeles, while Camilla Luddington's limited screen credits include playing Tiffany in Days of Our Lives.

Having a blast: This may look like the Highlands - but it's actually California

Also starring in the film is Chariots Of Fire star Ben Cross, who is playing Prince Charles, while American Mary Elise Haydon will play Kate’s sister Pippa Middleton.
The acting is described as wooden - or worse.

Movie critics have given the film an damning verdict, and have certainly not minced their words. 'So bad it's awful, toe-curlingly, teeth-furringly, pillow-bitingly ghastly,' said The Guardian newspaper. Andrew Billen writing in The Times says the movie is 'glorious kitsch' that's 'too ridiculous to offend'.

American critics have lambasted it, too, describing it as one of the cheesiest movies ever made.

Royal training: Actress Camilla Luddington shows Kate practising her curtsying

The write stuff: Prince William reads all about his romantic interest

Text-book romance: The royal couple met at the University of St Andrews

The £3million movie chronicles the university romance of Prince William and Kate Middleton, who in real life met and fell in love while studying art history at the University of St Andrews in Scotland.

Much is made in the film of the unlikelihood that William would ever marry a commoner.

It documents key points in the royal couple's budding relationship, including the scene where Middleton catches William's eye at a fashion show wearing a see-through dress, prompting the future king's alleged quote to friends: 'Kate's hot!'

'Tacky': Critics have slammed the film for being naff and cheesy

When a friend warns her she won't have a chance with William, Luddington gives the camera a smouldering look and says 'He's just a guy.'

The film - which premieres in the US on April 18 and will be released on DVD in Britain on April 25 - will also be shown on Channel 5 in the week before the wedding. No doubt that will be the sequel.

The Apes trailer which takes humanised monkey effects to a whole new level

By GRAHAM SMITH

You'll believe an ape can talk: A five-second preview from the forthcoming Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes took the Internet by storm yesterday. Today a full trailer was unveiled to awestruck science-fiction fans

The original 1960s film was a milestone in prosthetic make-up effects.

Now the latest instalment in the Planet Of The Apes franchise is taking another giant step forward in depicting 'realism' in fantasy cinema.

A five-second preview clip of Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes posted online yesterday, left awestruck science-fiction fans clamouring for more. Today, the full trailer was unveiled.

Spellbinding: Filmmakers have made liberal use of CGI technology to create what looks to be the most realistic depiction yet of a humanised ape

Pop culture icon: Roddy McDowall as Cornelius in Escape From The Planet Of The Apes, the third film in the franchise

Yesterday's tantalisingly brief segment shows an actor - who could be Andy Serkis as Caesar, the part made famous by Roddy McDowall in the original films - in his ape 'make-up'.

This close-up comes at the end of the full trailer for the new prequel, which shows how apes in the present day came to be supremely intelligent beings who take over Earth.

The new prequel, which shows how apes in the present day came to be supremely intelligent beings who take over Earth, stars James Franco (right) as a scientist conducting experiments on the animals

Filmmakers have made liberal use of CGI technology to create what looks to be the most realistic depiction yet of a humanised ape.

By using motion-capture technology - which records and analyses information from markers stuck onto the actor's body, and infrared lights which illuminate him - the special effects team is able to track motion and force.

This 'MoCap' technique has been used in many recent blockbusters, including the Lord Of The Rings trilogy for translating Serkis' movements into Gollum.

Calm before the storm: WETA Digital, an Oscar-winning visual effects company who worked on Avatar, is responsible for the new film's effects

Even the CGI effects in Tim Burton's 2001 remake Planet Of The Apes look dated when placed alongside the new effect.

Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes stars James Franco, Freida Pinto, John Lithgow and Brian Cox and is scheduled for an August release in the U.S.
